About Quicklinks
Peppermint Patty is a mixed breed dog who was born on February 3, 2015. Her family found her through a private rescue organization. Patty was a very shy puppy 8-week-old puppy, and she was quick to hide when first meeting her new parents. Once they were able to hold her, Patty’s new parents knew immediately that the gentle puppy was meant for them to raise and love.
The family decided on her “unique” name while watching a Charlie Brown movie. The grandchildren suggested it, and her parents knew it would be perfect for her.
When she was just a touch over 6 months old, Peppermint Patty started attending daycare at Doggy Daycare and Spa. Regular daycare and overnight boarding provide her “Mom and Dad” peace of mind knowing she is well cared for, safe, and having fun when they are traveling or working. Patty knows when it is “daycare day” and cannot wait to get inside and join the other hip hounds for playtime!
At home, Patty’s job is standing watch and protecting her yard from dangerous intruders such as squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, and deer. All of these “intruders” seem to understand where Patty’s e-fence boundary is and seem to enjoy teasing her just out of reach.
Some of Patty’s favorite past times include boating, camping, and traveling. She has camped from coast to coast, north to south, and east to west. Summers spent going on long walks in the Traverse City area with her family are some of her favorites. Playing “keep away” with the soccer or tennis ball or tug of war with her gray seal stuffy are a couple of Patty’s favorite games, especially when played with the “grandchildren.”
While it has always been obvious to us that Patty is an especially bright dog, we were impressed to learn that Patty rings the doorbell to come inside when she is ready. Her family finds this especially useful on cold winter days!
Peppermint Patty is looking forward to spring because right after follows her favorite season, summer! She loves summer the best because that means she gets to go camping, boating, long walks, and time spent with family in Traverse City.
Even though she can’t say actual words, Peppermint Patty does speak to her Mom and Dad. She often tells them that it is “treat time” or time to “go on a ride…put the top down!!!” in a unique use of her vocal cords.
