About Quicklinks
Pauling is an American Foxhound who was born on August 8, 2017. When he was a year and a half, he found himself waiting for a new home at the Capital Area Humane Society. His soon-to-be “mom” visited the shelter with a friend with the idea that she would be looking to adopt a cat. Fortunately for Pauling, as soon as his “mom” saw him, she knew he was meant to be part of their family. A couple short days later, Pauling joined his mom and dad in his new home.
Being an American Foxhound, Pauling is instinctually curious and has a very, very strong nose drive. That, along with both of his parents being chemists, led to him being named after the famous chemist Linus Pauling.
In September of 2020, Pauling began attending Daycare regularly at the Lansing location of Doggy Daycare and Spa. Spending the day with his canine friends in a safe and engaging environment is way more fun than being home alone all day while his human parents are working. When his family travels, Pauling spends the night and his parents have peace of mind knowing Pauling is in a place where he is comfortable, cared for, and loved.
When he’s not hanging with the other hip hounds, Pauling can be found taking walks in his neighborhood with his human siblings, befriending squirrels and rabbits in his backyard, or curled up on the couch or a warm lap.
Pauling is a very talented dog and is happy to sit, laydown, back up, and turn/spin around. Another thing that Pauling is especially good at is jumping over fences. In fact, one year at Christmas time when Santa was visiting Doggy Daycare and Spa, Pauling was so excited to meet the jolly man that he just jumped over the 4-foot fence in the gym rather than wait his turn. Once he realized how easily he could get over it, he can often be found on the private side taking naps in the middle of the day. Everyone is very grateful that Pauling can’t get over the 10 feet high fences that surround the playground at Doggy Daycare and Spa!
Another skill Pauling possesses is the ability to reach items at the back of the counter. This talent has allowed him to enjoy a loaf of sourdough bread, sticks of butter, frozen chicken, raw potatoes, and many other things that he found quite delicious but of questionable health benefits for a dog.
While late spring is Pauling’s favorite season, he does enjoy staying cozy inside with his family. This year, Pauling will be spending the holiday season at home with his family where he will enjoy treats and gifts. Happy Holidays, Pauling!
