Officially named “Olivette Marie” and “Sissi Star,” the pug sisters are the lights of their Mom’s life and bring nothing but joy to her, their aunt and uncle, and all their friends at Doggy Daycare and Spa.

Olive was born on January 10, 2020, and Sissi was born on August 16, 2021. Both of the girls came from a breeder in South Carolina and have the same parents, albeit a year and a half apart. Olivette’s name has a few meanings: one being a theatrical stage light from the 1930’s (hence being the light of her Mom’s life) and the other being olive branch signifying peace and calm. Sissi received her name for being just that, Olive’s Sissi! The Star came from the white star that is prominently displayed on her chest.

The girls love attending Doggy Daycare and Spa! They love to perch on the highest playground equipment and rule the pack as the Queen (Olive) and her jester (Sissi). They “yell” at all the other dogs from their thrones, especially when a dog is taken in and out of the pack for spa services, although they personally love being pampered! The Groomers always rave about how good the girls behave for their services.

Sissi has a bit of anxiety, and going to Doggy Daycare and Spa helps with that. It keeps both pugs busy, gives them something to look forward to, keeps them socialized with other friendly dogs, and makes the world a bit bigger. It also allows their Mom to work and not worry about them as she knows they are being well cared for by the team of dog lovers.

When they aren’t ruling the roost at Daycare, Olive and Sissi can be found lounging on family members, running in the backyard, and nosing around the pond. They also really enjoy playing tug of war, which Sissi tends to win due to pure tenacity. While Olive prefers hiding her toys, Sissi loves a good game of fetch and will play all day and night if allowed.

While neither pug has had any formal training, they can both sit when told. Olive might come when called. Or she might not (she is a pug, afterall.) Sissi, on the other hand, is a better listener and comes right away. Their Mom admits that both girls and she could probably benefit from some classes… We know where she can take some!

Every summer, both Olive and Sissi enjoy time in Mecosta Michigan where they spend time at the Lake with their Cavalier King Charles Spaniel friend named Lady Gaga. Boating on the pontoon is one of their favorites (we hope they wear their life jackets!)

If Olive could talk, she would tell her Mom not to worry and that everything is going to turn out okay in the end. Sissi would tell her to get up and start exercising! Go for a walk, throw the fetch toy, move your body! We think both of those are excellent advice!
