Cody is an English Cream Golden Retriever who brings nothing but joy and love to his family. He was born on July 4, 2020, right in the midst of the Covid Pandemic. His human parents had planned to get a dog sometime in the future, and since they were working from home, decided to pre-pone the new addition. Cody came to live with his family in September 2020 when he was 9 weeks old.

In May 2021, Cody began attending Doggy Daycare and Spa. He absolutely loves spending time with his best friends Titan, Charlie, and Maggie. Sitting on the feet of his human teachers, getting pet, and playing in the pools are just a few of his favorite things to do at Doggy Daycare and Spa. He even knows which days of the week he attends and is excited and eager to leave the house on those mornings. The other days of the week, he settles down for his morning nap so the difference is quite apparent to his family.

When he isn’t hanging with the other hip hounds, Cody spends time exploring the parks and trails on his morning walks. Evenings are spent in his fenced backyard where he intently watches the wooded area behind his house. He finds this activity to be boring after a while, and sometimes prefers being on a tie-out in the front of the house so he can watch all the people and dogs walk by!

Being a Golden Retriever, Cody loves to carry something in his mouth. His favorite toy is his Lambchop which is the only soft toy he hasn’t destroyed. Any others are destroyed within a few minutes of Cody getting ahold of them.

While most toys aren’t safe, Cody still has a gentle mouth. In fact, he will pick up things such as a napkin, paper towel, gloves, hats, socks… really anything off the floor and bring them to his human “parents” when told to do so (for a treat, of course). He also knows how to “untangle” himself when his leash gets wrapped around a tree or post when on a walk! The command “turn around” lets him know to go back the way he came. We think that’s pretty impressive!

Cody is a very lucky dog and gets to go nearly everywhere with his family. He has been to several hotels, shops, and restaurants and will walk right into a place like he owns it! People are often amazed at how friendly and well behaved he is in public places. They way he will settle down under a table at a restaurant always brings out the “Awww” from everybody.

There aren’t many things that Cody is afraid of. Strangers, new places, thunder, or large vehicles don’t seem to faze him. However, he has gotten spooked by such things as bugs, butterflies, bees, and new noises, even if they weren’t loud. There was even a time when he was afraid of the clouds moving across the sky! Thankfully, he has gotten over that!
